Holistic Fertility Treatment

What is Holistic Fertility

Holistic fertility is an approach to wellness that looks at the whole person—your mind, body, and spirit—to maximize your natural fertility and support any treatments you may be undergoing. It’s all about creating balance in your life, knowing that when you feel healthy in every way, it can have a positive effect on your ability to conceive.

Our Approach to Holistic Wellness

At Loma Linda Fertilization and Wellness Center, we believe that your lifestyle plays a significant role in your overall health and, in turn, your fertility. Our team is here to guide you on how to incorporate these holistic practices safely and effectively into your journey. While we’ll always prioritize evidence-based medicine, we recognize the value of these complementary practices.

Stress Management

The fertility journey can be stressful, and stress can impact your body. Practices like yoga, meditation, and professional counseling can be powerful tools to help you cope and feel more in control.

Healthy Body Weight

Maintaining a healthy weight is one of the best things you can do for your fertility. Being either overweight or underweight can disrupt your hormone levels. We can provide guidance on how to reach and maintain a healthy weight to support your journey.

Nutrition and Diet

What you eat can have a direct impact on your fertility and the outcome of a pregnancy. We can help you understand simple dietary changes that may improve your chances of conceiving. We also recommend taking a prenatal vitamin with folic acid but advise against taking other supplements without consulting with one of our doctors first, as some can be counterproductive.

Acupuncture

Studies have shown that acupuncture can reduce stress and improve blood flow. When used alongside fertility treatments, it may help improve uterine blood flow, which could increase your chances of success.

What Are The Risks?

While holistic practices are generally safe, it’s important to approach them thoughtfully. The practice with the most potential risk is the use of nutritional supplements. Some supplements, like certain vitamins or herbal remedies, can actually interfere with your fertility or interact negatively with your medications. For example, while some studies show that zinc supplements may help male sperm health, too much zinc can have the opposite effect.

That’s why we always recommend speaking with one of our physicians before starting any new supplements to ensure they are safe and beneficial for your specific situation.
